7th Grade AAU Nationals D1 / Memphis, TN

Congrats to California Basketball Club on winning the 7th Grade AAU Division I Championship this past week in Memphis, Tennessee! The team went 8-0 with a 19+ average margin of victory in the 92 team tournament.  They defeated West Coast Select another West Coast team, in the championship game 55-47.  We want to congratulate West Coast Select for their great run through the tournament and finished as National Runner-Up with an overall record of 7-1.

Other West Coast teams, the Oakland Soldiers and Seattle Rotary also fared well.  Both teams finished 2nd in their pool (not sure why the Oakland Soldiers were placed in the same pool as West Coast Select) and finished in Top 32 with an overall record of 3-2 (each team having lost one game to West Coast Select).

Overall, these teams went 21-5 in the National tournament and 19-3 versus teams outside of the West Coast.  We hope AAU can somehow find a way for the West Coast to host their National D1 tournament.

Special Thanks and Shout-Out goes to Spencer Pulliam at Dunk Dog (dunkdog.com) for his wonderful job covering the event and keeping us updated and informed on all teams. His podcasts provided lots of insight.  (follow on twitter @SpencerPulliam)

Runner-Up West Coast Select

7th Grade AAU Nationals D2 / Memphis, TN

Congratulations Arizona Team Powerhouse for making it to the Championship Bracket after placing 2nd in Pool Play.  Although the team did not do as well as they had hoped, they still finished in Top 48 out of 96 teams.  This team has traditionally done a great job of representing the West Coast by making sure to travel outside the West Coast.
4th Grade AAU Nationals D1 / Cincinnati, OH
For perhaps the first time ever, there will be 4 West Coast Teams playing at D1 AAU Nationals in Cincinnati, Ohio.  916 Select (perennial National power house), Vegas Elite, Inland Force and Spirit Got Game will be competing in the 42 team tournament on the week of July 8th.  These are all strong teams who are ranked in the Top 6 on WCE25 and are expected to make a big splash on Midwest City of Cincinnati and on the National Scene.
Worth noting that Cincinnati had 2 West Coast Teams (TriCity and SGV Blue) participate in the 2011 D2 AAU National Tournament.  TriCity went on to win the 2011 D2 AAU National Championship by going undefeated.  Thus, we hope to keep the tradition alive with these 4 teams.
Special Thanks to Beverly Taylor (916 Select) for her nice email about these 4 teams.  She was very proud and happy to have 3 fellow West Coast teams on the trip.
PS – WCE25 expects plenty of pictures of all 4 teams and a group picture of all four teams together.
5th Grade AAU Nationals D1 & D2 / Cocoa Beach , FL

There will be 5 West Coast Teams competing at D1 & D2 AAU Nationals in Cocoa Beach, Florida.  Utah Pump N Run  and M’PYRE will be competing in the 56 team D1 tournament.  Rising Stars, SGV Blue, and Jr. Hoops will be competing in the 48 team D2 tournament.

Good luck to all teams in Florida.

WCE25 has been approved to cover the AAU event live from Cocoa Beach.
