King of Kings Elite Camp Recap

The King of Kings Elite Camp

WCE25 caught some of the action on Saturday and all the action on Sunday and here is our recap of the camp:

Talent Level: 10 out of 10

Game Competitiveness: 9/10

Coach Jimmie from the City Stars helped raised the level of in-game competition from not only his teams, but also from his competitors, as well as officials.  It was great to see him allow each baller on his team an opportunity to handle the ball and display their skill-set.  He also demanded his players compete on defense.

Camp Sportsmanship Level: 7/10

We usually don’t see much passing in these type of camps; however, the coaches and camp director did their best to ensure the athletes moved the ball and also tracked playing time of each athlete.

Camp Features/Giveaways:  8/10

Well organized camp that featured a raffle shoe giveaway for 4 campers and the shirt giveaway by Basketball Junkies.  The only drawback was the game jerseys for the 2018-19 games appeared to be similar in color because they were light grey and white.

Overall Camp Grade: 8.5/10

The talent level was the best for 2013 in SoCal.  Organization, In-Game Competition, Coaching, and giveaways/sponsors make the King of Kings Elite Camp a basketball camp destination of the future.

WCE25 Camp Athlete Awards

Sportsmanship Award: Payton Moore

This athlete continues to impress.  Well mannered, does well in school, and is a great baller and teammate.  If we had an IVY League Scholarship to hand out, Payton would certainly be our first option.

Class of 2018-19 WCE25 CAMP MVP: Austin Galuppo

Austin Galuppo was absolutely on fire all weekend. His range extended beyond NBA range and he required little or no time to get the shot he desired.  He also showed great motor and desire to compete.  If there is one thing we would like to see Austin do more of, it would be to pump fake and make a strong dribble-drive to the basket or for a pull-up jumper.  Then again, a 3 is worth more than a 2.

Other WCE25 2018-19 Notables: Harrison Butler, Spencer Freedman, Cassius Stanley, Jacob Ray (2019), EJ Jackson (2019), Pierre Crockrell

Class of 2020-22 WCE25 CAMP MVP: Joshua Christopher

Joshua Christopher was a beast among boys.  A terror on defense, can hit the jumper, and a terrific slasher was enough to warrant the WCE25 Camp MVP.
