Open Gym Premier Ballislife Kickoff Event Recap

The Open Gym Premier Ballislife Kickoff Event played host to 182 teams (147 Middle School and 35 HS) from Arizona, NorCal, SoCal, and San Diego.  The event featured 39 Top 50 WCE25 Ranked Middle School Teams (27% of all teams ranked in Top 50) and several Nationally ranked (by Indihoops.com) Earl Watson Elite HS Teams competing for a championship across 22 different divisions.

WCE25’s Top 10 from the Open Gym Ballislife Kickoff Event

1. Team Dojo Nation – Three Teams participated and three teams went home with the signature event trophy.  Team Dojo nation compiled a 12-1 record over the weekend and will see a major boost in the upcoming rankings. Great job Guys!

2. Earl Watson Elite – Ryan Silver’s Nationally recognized program had 5 teams ranging from 2019 to High School competing in the event.  His teams went 13-4, won the 17u HS division and were runner-ups in both the 16u and 15u Divisions with teams playing up several grades (2018 & 2019).  The program also does a great job of representing the Under Armour basketball brand. 3. Game Changers Dylan Andrews & Zachary Fugmann (GTE & San Diego Sabers 2021) – The 2013 Ballislife Junior All-Americans and their teammates put on a great show in the 5th Grade Gold Championship Game.  The skill level and competitive nature of these two created great energy and excitement during the championship game.  As the teams battled it out throughout the second half of the game, it was these two that stood out on both ends of the floor.  Young Zachary with his dribble penetration and hard nosed defense and Dylan Andrews with steals and simply – buckets.  Eventually, Game Time Elite pulled out the victory by a score of 57-54, but watching that game, we felt like the winners.  We expect to see both players at the Ballislife Junior All-American Camp on August 2-3. 4. Dojo vs SGV 2nd Grade –   These two 2nd grade teams really go after it. We always enjoy watching the development and growth of young ballers.  When we last saw these two teams, they were both very new to the circuit.  A few months later, they are more skilled and apparently hungrier for a top ranking. SGV won the pool play session by defeating Dojo (the program’s only loss over the weekend), but Dojo settled the score with their win over SGV in 2nd grade Championship game.  Congrats to both teams.  We look forward to hosting both at the upcoming WCE25 Open Gym Championship Event on July 5-6, 2014.  For more information, visit http://opengympremier.com/services/tournaments/championship-tournament

5. Open Gym Premier   – The host program now boasts 26 teams ranging 2nd through High School.  Truly impressive to have a program with this many teams and all sporting the Ballislife gear.

6. CBC the Program –  Coming off two straight 2017 AAU DI Championships, the CBC program from the Valley looks to be in good shape.  The fundamentally sound program went 6-1 and took home the 3rd Grade Gold Championship this past weekend.  The 2019 team played well by defeating Fundamentals and Bay Area Orangemen, but lost to runner-up I10 Celtics in pool play.  The 3rd Grade team went 4-0 and defeated Future Ballerz in the championship game.  Young guard Trey McDonald was a pleasure to watch and earned invite to the Ballislife Junior All-American Camp.

7. Open Gym Premier Kickoff Event Shoe Game  – Jordan’s, Under Armour, and Kobe 9’s were some of best Kicks on display over the weekend.  However, it was the Ballislife Socks that stole the show.  The Ballislife socks are simply what’s in and what every baller is wearing these days.  Visit http://shop.ballislife.com to shop for all latest Ballislife socks and gear.

8. NGA Stars vs Shepard Sports 8th Grade Silver Championship Game Buzzer beater by NGA’s Akil Johnson – You hear the roar from afar and you know missed it… that great basketball moment: the Buzzer Beater!  We admit it, we missed it, but can tell you it sounded great from afar.  Congrats NGA and great shot Akil!

9. NBA in the Building  –    Former NBA players Michael Cooper and Chris Dudley were in the building as was future NBA lottery pick Dante Exum.  However, we were more impressed seeing NBA Trainer Joe Abunassar roam the sidelines for the Kings Academy program.  To have Joe as part of the program says a lot about the Kings Academy program. 10. Ballislife Junior All-American Alumni, Sammy Legleu– Tucson’s 2018 Sammy Legleu paid us a visit on Saturday after competing with his Tucson Spartans squad earlier in the day. Sammy was one of the notable players at the 2013 Junior All-American Camp and is still competing at a high level for his squad.  We would wish Sammy good luck in High School, but we are likely to run into him again at the WCE25/Phoenix is Rising Arizona Event on April 12-13.  For more information, visit http://www.quickscores.com/Orgs/index.php?OrgDir=phxisrising
